Speech and Language Therapy Assessments

Speech and Language Therapy assessments are based on the identified needs of the individual based on the referral information provided. Following an initial contact with a member of the team a specialist speech and language therapy assessment will be conducted by a therapist with expertise within that clinical area. The assessment tools used are evidence based and may use formal and / or informal assessment methods.

A Speech and Language Therapy assessment session will typically last 60 minutes, which will include a case history, the assessment itself and a brief outcome discussion. Following all assessments, a report will be provided to the individual and the referrer.

Other Assessments provided

More than Speech Therapy staff have skills to provide support in specialist voice assessments (some vocal coaching) for professional voice users, complimentary psychological therapies and have access to a wide range of other allied health professionals, e.g. clinical psychologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist and dietitians; who can provide joint assessments where appropriate (please note costings may vary for joint assessment sessions).
