Training can be provided relating to speech, voice, language or swallowing difficulties.

All the specialist training that is offered can be changed in content, length and type of training based on the individual needs of the request.

The training that we typically offer (although on request other training can be considered) is:

  • Dysphagia Awareness Training – this focuses on increasing the knowledge and understanding of swallowing disorders, strategies to support individuals with swallowing disorders and how to access specialist assessments where required.
  • Total Communication Training – this focuses on increasing the knowledge and understanding of communication impairments, strategies to support individuals with communication impairments, including utilising alternative and augmentative communication and how to access specialist assessments where required.
  • Social Communication Training – this focuses on providing strategies on how to interact with individuals that are considered ‘hard to reach’ (e.g. individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities, individuals with dementia) and to increase the pleasure, meaning and quality of those interactions.
  • Vocal Education – this focuses on how to look after your voice, particularly when being used for singing, lecturing, public speaking, call centre working, in which there is increased strain and pressure on the voice.
