Always sad to hear singers having to stop or cancel their shows because of their voice.

Voice difficulties are common in professional voice users and need looking after to be able to maintain the ability to constantly perform.

Professional voice users often think they are looking after their voice because they drink plenty of water and perhaps have honey and lemon before a show, but it takes more than that to sustain healthy vocal cords.

You need the right food, right amount of sleep, excellent hydration, a great vocal warm up routine (doesn’t have to take long but needs to be tailored exercises for your voice), you need to have a good overall fitness to keep your diaphragm and core strong and you need good posture when performing. All of this needs to be tailored to you and your voice needs.

- reduce alcohol intake
- drink water alongside alcoholic drinks
- don’t drink alcohol straight before going to bed / lying down
- don’t drink alcohol before performing
